PROJEcT summary

The South Harbour district in Aarhus is an ambitious project that is going to become an entirely new kind of quarter in Denmark’s second-largest city. The area is to be developed and ‘tightened up’, while at the same time further developing the current cultural environment and leaving room for everyone in the area – also the socially disadvantaged, who currently enjoy a number of opportunities in the area and feel comfortable here.

The area does not include housing due to its location close to the active industrial harbour, but space is to be created for companies that can contribute to the creation of a dynamic, attractive neighbourhood and establish new urban spaces, connections and meeting places.

HAUXNER'S work

Katinka Hauxner is participating as an expert in urban development on the advisory board, which has been established to advise the city on the new development plan for South Harbour. The advisory board has contributed with knowledge and inspiration and has prepared a number of recommendations for the coming development plan and the continued work by the City of Aarhus with the South Harbour development
